In 1908, King Alfonso XIII of Spain accepted the invitation of Ramon Montaner and stayed in the Castle for a few days. The most famous politicians, cultural workers of those times visited the Castle. The owner of the Castle in his turn was entitled to be the Earl of Valle de Canet. The Castle was the ideal place for creative work, discussions and ordinary meetings. A significant impact on the final project of the Castle was made by Ramon Montaner`s son-in-law Ricardo de Capmany y Roura who was married to his daughter Julia de Montaner y Malattó and had strong connections with art world of Barcelona.
After Domus was restored Domus Lluís Domènech i Montaner initiated building of the new part in the Castle.
